Hi!
Welcome, and thanks for visiting my page.
I am Rana. I am working as a Research Associate in development economics at Luxembourg Institute of Socio-Economic Research (LISER). My role consists on the evaluation of development policies in Africa in the framework of a new Development Policy Impact Analysis Unit, hosted and managed by LISER, and operating in cooperation with JPal-Europe, LuxDev, and the Directorate for Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Affairs of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg (Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs).
I hold a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Luxembourg.
As a junior economist, I am interested in the fields of migration, in particular forced displacement, development and conflict economics.  My current work focuses on the implications of forced displacement for social cohesion and conflict in hosting economies, the role of media in the intentions and decisions to migrate and for conflict, and the impact of population aging on the attitudes towards immigration (mainly in developing countries). More recently, I have started to explore the effect of vocational training on youth employment in developing countries, particularly women and young girls, aiming to disentangle its long-standing effects more causally.
